Hi everyone! This is the first Monday in a loooooong time where I haven’t been completely exhausted rolling out of bed. And it’s because I spend the entire weekend relaxing and have no regrets about it! This was the weekend of love and I chose to celebrate self love. On Saturday I caught up on blog stuff while watching tons of TV on demand (I’m all caught up on Dance Moms now!) and then binged watched Making a Murderer on Netflix! Anyone else think he’s not guilty or is it just us? Then on Sunday I celebrated Valentine’s Day by watched the Rock of Love marathon with my husband and then I went out on a fabulous trail run while he watched the Flyers game! When I look back on my Valentine blog post from Friday, I actually got to spend time with almost all of them this weekend – pizza, coffee, blogging, yoga, running, and my husband! I was supposed to go skiing on Saturday but I really needed that rest day – and all the pizza I ate that day.
I haven’t done a weekly workout recap in a while, but now that I’m not injured and I’m getting back to normal I thought I’d start the week off with one! I’m also trying out a new linkup and connecting with HoHo Runs and Misssippipiddlin for their Weekly Wrap Linkup! Here’s what I was up to last week:
Monday: I went to a Paint Nite party with my friends and painted a really cute starry night themed picture! Then I did a short yoga session at home.
Tuesday: 45 minute Pub run with my run buddies! After each pub run you earn a raffle ticket and the local running store does lots of drawings for prizes. Each week the two big prizes are a race entry and running shoes. I’ve never won a pub run raffle before, but today was my lucky day because I WON A FREE RACE ENTRY! Thanks Skinny Raven! It was supposed to be for the Valentine’s Day race but because I’m still recovering I decided to trade it in for an entry to the Shamrock Shuffle 5k.
Wednesday: Yoga class at my gym. It was really hard and I was crazy sore afterwards!
Thursday: I was supposed to go to the gym but ended up going to see Dan Savage with one of my coworkers because she had an extra ticket! It was amazing and so worth the unplanned rest day.
Friday: I went to an early morning yoga class, and then ran 30 minutes after work on the treadmill.
Saturday: Rest day!
Sunday: I treated myself to a 30 minute trail run in Campbell Tract, which is the only place in town where we still have snow on the ground. I then finished the day with Yoga With Adrienne’s Valentine Vinyasa Flow. Love her!
I also have some good news! My husband was at a work conference on Friday and won a FitBit Charge HR, and he decided that he didn’t really want to wear it around on his wrist all the time so he gave it to me for Valentine’s Day! I’ve never had one before so I’d love to get some tips or tricks on how you use yours. And if you want to friend me on FitBit, my username is Kristen K.!
What were you up to this weekend? How did you spend your Valentine’s Day? Do you have a FitBit?
Sounds like a nice week! Those painting parties can be fun. And a pub run! Thumbs up! I don’t practice yoga real often aside from some specific stretches. So when I do go to a class I end up feeling it big time afterwards. Enjoy the fitbit! I had one of those and then lost it in the gym locker room. I eventually got it back but was out of my habit of wearing it. I should probably charge it up again!
Oh no! I’m so glad you got your Fitbit back but it sucks it got lost in the first place. You should definitely let me know if you charge it up so we can follow each other on there!
I have a Fitbit but I haven’t worn it in a long time, I should dig it out. My Valentines was busy! yoga, a hike with the family, a run, my son had shooting sports shoot with 4-H, and we came home to our first calf of the season. All in all a great day! Nice to “meet” you!
Let me know if you do so we can follow each other! And your Valentine’s day sounds pretty awesome! Any day with yoga, hiking, and running is perfect!
Congrats on your free race entry! What an awesome prize.
Thanks! I have no idea how I got so lucky – I feel like I never win stuff!
Welcome to the Weekly Wrap Kristen. We are delighted to have you. I have the same Fitbit and love it. I tried to add you but couldn’t. I’m listed under hohoruns50@gmail.com. Let’s be Fitbit friends. I’m usually involved in weekly and weekend challenges too. They are fun. The pub crawl sounds wonderful. It’s great you won a free race and that they let you swap it. I hope to see you here again next week!
Thanks! I’ll have to search you on fitbit so we can follow each other. I have no idea when I’ll be up for a challenge because I didn’t walk as far as I expected today, but I’ll join some soon.
On Valentine’s day, husband and me went for a run.
I don’t have a FitBit (had to google what a FitBit is, haha), but am after a Garmin Forerunner 920xt…
Haha that’s okay, they’re kind of silly! They’re basically watches/bracelets that track your activity and your steps taken. It’s not meant for running the way a Garmin is, although I’ll probably wear mine tomorrow to track how many steps I took in my run and see if it’s worth it to wear on all my runs. I wouldn’t have bought one if he hadn’t won it, but it is a cool addition to my fitness gear!
I love reading weekly workout recaps! Sometimes relaxing weekends are just needed. I spent Valentine’s Day resting and trying to kick a cold but did a fun 5k and brunch the day before. You and your husband had a lucky week winning stuff!
Yeah we did! I have no idea how we got so lucky this week, this never happens! I’m glad you had a relaxing weekend as well, and that you got to run a fun 5k too!
Sounds like you had a great week and a fabulous weekend! Awesome about the FitBit win! It was super cold here Sat & Sun so I hibernated inside until last night. The hubby and I went out for dinner alone which was fun! I am looking forward to getting out for a run today. Yesterday it was -15 (that is before wind chill) so my Sunday Runday turned into strength training instead. Have a great week! You should be getting your bracelet any day!
Hibernating sounds awesome! We had a warmish and sunny Saturday which I totally wasted by sitting inside doing nothing. It was so worth it though! And I’ll let you know as soon as I get it! 🙂
Wow! Sounds like a great week! And two free gifts?! How awesome. I used to have a fitbit and loved it, but recently made the switch to the vivoactive, which I also love.
Ooooh I want one of those! I probably wouldn’t have bought the Fitbit if he hadn’t won it, but I’m enjoying it so far! I’m going to try not to be one of those girls who gets obsessed with daily steps but I know that’s the kind of thing that I do 🙂
Kristen, I’m so glad you joined us on the Weekly Wrap Link Up!!! I just added you to one of the fitbit challenges I’m doing! It’s great motivational fun! Congratulations on the free race entry you won! That is awesome! I think a pub run would be awesome as well! Hope you have a great week!
Awesome! I’ll have to check them out 🙂 I’m such a newbie at this and was shocked at how little I move at work on my non-teaching days, so that was eye opening!
Sounds like a great week! That’s amazing you won a free race entry! Race entries and shoes are pretty much the best prizes any runner can get. We spent our weekend relaxing and recharging as well…no phones, no computers, etc. It was perfect! I finished a few magazines and caught up on rest. Sometimes you just need that!
They really are the best prizes! I’m hoping to win the shoes one day too 🙂 I’m so glad we were both able to have a relaxing weekend with no distractions! I may need to do that more often!
Sounds like you are enjoying recovery mode! It’s amazing to me that your weather is more mild than mine here in Chicago, but I’ve heard that’s often the case. Have a great week!
Yeah, Alaska has been weird the last few winters. We are dying up here without fresh snow to ski and run on! Snow is the best part about winter and right now there’s just a thin crunchy layer of it 😦
Nice week!!!
Lots of yoga. I h have only been able to get to the studio 1 time a week but I enjoy that one session a lot! !
H how see of your hubby to give you that fitbit. I have heard good things about it. Enjoy!
Hey, once a week is awesome! I swear, my Thursday night yoga class is what I look forward to all week.
Sounds like a great weekend! I spent Saturday firmly planted on the sofa (after my spin class) and enjoyed the down-time with my hubby. I just started going to CorePower Yoga and think it is literally l kicking my a$$!
Nice! That yoga class sounds so awesome, I wish we had one up here in Alaska!
Sounds like a totally awesome week, and perfect Valentine’s Day! I’m jealous of all your yoga time. I’m hoping that once we get our second car back on the road, I’ll have an easier time making it to actual classes.
We only have one car and it’s so tough to make it to classes! I totally hear you. This is why I love Yoga with Adrienne so much!
Congrats on winning a free race entry! I ran a very cold race on Valentine’s Day morning, and I won my entry into it by posting a picture of me running in the snow to Instagram. 🙂
I ordered a couple of yoga DVD’s last week, but haven’t had time to give them a try yet…
Thanks! I love winning race entries, it’s such a huge motivator for training! And good luck with your yoga DVDs!
Woo! Free race entries are the best!
I also have a Charge HR and I love it (though I must admit I’m eyeing up the Blaze and Atra as well).
I like it way more than I thought I would! I feel like I’m going to become one of those people who does extra walking just to get to 10,000 steps! 🙂
Fun week! the pub run sounds cool, how fun that you won a race entry! I love my Fitbit charge HR, what do you think of it so far?
