Hi everyone! Every once in a while it’s time for a random post about life, and today just feels like that day! I don’t have much running stuff going on lately (#injuredrunnerproblems) but there is lots of big, exciting news going on this week! I am totally #winning this Wednesday!
- I’m just going to start with the biggest one: my husband and I are in the process of buying our very first house here in Anchorage! Our offer was accepted on a cute little 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house on the edge of the forest next to some awesome running trails. It’s got tons of character and gorgeous mountain views and we are just hoping the rest of the process goes smoothly until we officially close on May 23rd! And I’m probably about to go pin crazy on Pinterest with all my fun new decorating ideas!
The soon-to-be new headquarters of RAWM!
- It’s pretty hard to compete with that news, but I’ll try! My other big news is that I signed up for beginner adult swim lessons at a local college! I start next Tuesday and will go twice a week for a month. I’m so excited to finally figure out what I’m doing in the pool for my upcoming tri!
- Last weekend it was 45 degrees and sunny, which is downright warm for March. So I decided that after a month of rest, it was the perfect time for me to try a run again. I started with a 5 minute slow walk, did 3:2 intervals (3 minutes walking, 2 minutes running slowly and carefully), and finished with a 5 minute cool down walk. The sunset views were gorgeous and I was pain free! And unless you’ve ever been injured, I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing it feels to run for even just 2 minutes after a month off. I think I’ll try again next weekend and see if I can slowly work my way up to 2 short run/walk sessions a week sometime in April. I am planning on returning to running twice as slowly and carefully as I did in December and I hope it works this time!
Running off into the sunset ❤
- Finally, the state of Alaska is buzzing with sports news! You may have read my post about the Iditarod Ceremonial Start, and the exciting news is that the winner crossed the finish line at 2 AM on Tuesday morning! As I predicted, Dallas Seavey won his 4th Iditarod while his dad Mitch came in second. The Iditarod had tons of interesting moments this year, including an incident where a drunk snowmachiner attacked 2 sled dog teams (including the team that came in third) and killed one dog in the process. It was so incredibly sad and must have been one terrifying night. For all the info on the record breaking win this year, go here!
Do you have any advice for someone buying their first home? Have you ever taken adult swim lessons before, and what should I expect? What’s your biggest news this week? I’d love to hear it!
