Great news everyone! WE MADE IT TO ALASKA!!!!! Today was probably the easiest day of driving since the Midwest. The mountains were INSANE and were super close! It was a perfect day of driving and it was so nice to finally be back in the US where I can talk to my parents on the phone!
You have no idea how long I’ve waited to see that sign!
It’s so amazing to finally have made it to Alaska after 7 days of driving, crashing the car, getting stranded in random towns, and losing money on hotel rooms due to weather. On the bright side, we did get to see some amazing scenery in the last 2 days and it does kind of make it worth the trouble!
I can’t even process the fact that I’m here in Alaska and it’s my new home! I can’t wait to go hiking, start running again, and stop eating like crap (eating healthy in rural places is pretty tough!). I do apologize for the lack of running stuff on the blog over the last week! I know you all originally started following my blog so that you could read about my running journey, not my northern road trip journey, but I do want to be able to look back on all of this someday and remember how I felt during the trip. I’m excited that it’s almost over, but I am going to miss jamming out to Sirius Satellite Radio’s Pop 2k station in the car with my husband for hours straight! I’ve also been getting a lot of reading done which is seriously something I haven’t done in a while. Overall I’m glad we decided to drive up here, I just wish we could have done it a bit later in the year so that there was no snow on the roads!
Thanks so much for following my Alaska journey! I will be toning it down a bit in the future posts, but you can always read the latest stuff over on Bearly Alaskan (like my trip report for today here!).
Seriously, you’re moving to Alaska and DROVE there all the way from Philly!!! Do not apologize. It’s the coolest thing ever! Running is cool, but Alaska road trips are incredible!
So happy you arrived safely & hope you’re enjoying getting to know your new home! Once you’re settled in…I wanted to let you know I nominated you for a Liebster Award 🙂 Details here – http://kineticfix.com/2014/04/26/liebster-award-sharing-the-blog-love/
Yahoo, welcome!!!!!
That is so awesome! Alaska was one of the first really cool trips I ever took – I look forward to all of your pictures and stories!
Hi! I also wanted to let you know I nominated you for a Liebster Award, BUT, I see that someone else already has. Oh well, you have two! You don’t have to fill mine out, though, if that’s too much 🙂 Also, congrats on your move to Alaska–I think it is so awesome that you and your husband are doing that. Never stop taking adventures 🙂 Although I am a bit upset that you won’t be in Philly anymore 😦 BEST OF LUCK! I look forward to reading about your Awesome Alaskan Adventures.
Glad you are having a great time in Alaska so far! I am sure you will be back to your old running self in no time! Looks like you have some beautiful scenery to inspire you!
