Hey everyone! Fabulous news: this is my 100th blog post AND tomorrow is my 6 month blogiversary! How crazy is that! I can’t believe how far I’ve come since I started this blog. Let’s take a look back, shall we?
- I ran my slowest 5k ever after taking 3 months off running and realized how important it is to train for a race
- I ran in Chicago and Milwaukee and appreciated how much faster you can run in a flat place
- I got professionally fitted for shoes at a local running store which significantly helped my running ability
- I PRed my 10k time TWICE! And my current PR took place on the Ben Franklin Bridge in Philly/Camden!
- I finally broke 30 minutes in a 5k with a time of 28:41 (I’m still so proud!)
- I ran races in New Jersey and Delaware
- I began training for my first half marathon (HOLY COW IT’S IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS!!!!!)
- I ran a 5 mile race in the freezing pouring rain and didn’t die
- I made my foam roller my BFF after being afraid to try it out
- I became obsessed with Barre3 and realized that cross training is pretty fun
- I learned how to fuel during long runs
- I went run streaking for the Runner’s World Holiday Run Streak and lasted 34 days!
- And in non-running related news, I hiked my butt off in Acadia National Park during the government shutdown. It was pretty awesome!
- I finally began to feel like a runner, which is probably my biggest accomplishment in the past 6 months 🙂
It’s amazing to look back on all the things I’ve done in such a short amount of time! So here’s my motivation for all of you lovely readers: take a look back at where you were 6 months ago. You’re a much stronger person now because of the things you’ve gone through. You’ve come a long way from the person you were 6 months ago, and it’s so exciting to think about who you’ll be in another 6 months! I’m so excited to check in again on August 4th!
In honor of my 6 month blogiversary/100th post, I’m hosting a giveaway! I was contacted by The Color Run about their new 2014 Kaleidoscope Tour. This is 5K Magic like only The Color Run can do.” And they are not kidding! The new race swag is seriously awesome!

Have you ever done The Color Run before? Is the Kaleidoscope Tour coming to your city?
I can’t believe that your half is coming up so quick! That means that mine is coming quickly too! Ack! And I love the Color Run! I ran a race with them and volunteered and it was all wonderful!
Ahhh I know, it’s so crazy! I don’t know if I’m ready yet! And I haven’t had a chance to run with them yet, but it looks like so much fun!
I did Color Me Rad and it was so fun! The Color Run is coming my way! Happy Blogaversary!
Awesome! Definitely use the above code if you want to sign up! I’m all about saving money 🙂
Happy Blogiversary!
Thanks! Time is really flying by!
Congratulations on so many accomplishments!! It is so great to reflect on how far you have come. 6 months ago I was getting ready for my first half marathon. I cannot believe that! The Color Run is one I have never done, but would love to try. I still think we need to meet up at one of these Philly/Jersey races!
Thanks! It’s so crazy to think that 6 months from now when I do this again I’ll be able to talk about the multiple half marathons I’ve done! You should definitely try The Color Run, the swag looks so cool! When the dates come out for Philly we’ll have to talk 🙂
Happy Blogiversary! 🙂

Thanks!
If you want a flat race, try running the Fargo Marathon (or Half) in May! It’s crazy fast/flat.
~Lisa
Sweet! I will have to look into that! I’m all about flat races, hills just slow me down!
It is really, really flat. And it’s a BQ. Everyone turns their nose up when I say Fargo, but it is truly a great race.
Happy Blogiversary! I’m approaching my 100th as well…always nice to look back and reflect. You’ve come a long way…congrats!
Thanks! Congrats on almost getting to 100. It was so cool seeing that number when I hit publish!
Yay Congrats on 100 posts AND 6 months of blogging! I had fun walking down memory lane there with you 😉 My biggest accomplishment of the past 6months would probably getting my wisdom teeth out? haha j/k I would def be running my first Half and now training for my first marathon!
Thanks! It was so crazy seeing all the stuff I did in only 6 months! I’ve been busy recently 🙂 And congrats on finishing your first half! And I remember getting my wisdom teeth out, holy cow that was painful! I think it’s an accomplishment surviving that!
Huge congrats on kicking butt over the past 6 months!
Thanks! I was surprised by all the awesome stuff I did! I also wasted a ton of time on Facebook and watched too much reality tv, but I didn’t write about that 🙂
Happy bloggy anniversary and 100th post! You have accomplished so much lately and I can’t wait to hear what you’ll be up to next. (GONNA ROCK THAT HALF!!!)
Thanks! I’m seriously nervous already!
Happy happy! 🙂
It was definitely fun looking back on all the stuff I did!
My biggest accomplishment is getting back to baseline after having my son. Coming back after birth is SO hard but I am so proud of myself for getting it in!
Congrats! I seriously can’t imagine doing that. I had my appendix out a few years ago and I’ll never forget how long it took my body to come back from that. I wasn’t healthy at the time and gained so much weight from inactivity. I’m glad we’re both able to work out again!
Wow you’ve accomplished a lot in 6 months! I’m loving your 6 month check in idea 🙂
& Happy Blogiversary!
I’ve never done a color run but I’d love to! I want to sucker a non-running friend into loving running 🙂
Do it! I did a different color run before and I forced my sister to do it with me. We literally walked the entire thing because she’s not a runner (I would say half the people walked the whole thing) and we had a BLAST! One color station ran out of color so I just rolled around on the ground to get it all over me. So crazy!
Congrats on the milestones! My biggest accomplishment in the past 6 months is probably just starting to run and sticking with it past the beginning pains.
That’s awesome!!! I always say that the beginning is the worst. Once you get through that you’ll be good! Have you done a race yet? That’s when I started to really love running!
Taking boot camp classes and loving them!
That’s awesome! I’ve always wanted to try those but I’m such a wimp when it comes to exercise!
You have accomplished so much in a short period of time. You are right to be so proud! I have never ran a color run. Mostly due to the fact that I can’t find a local one. They are too far for me to drive, yet not far enough that I would make a Racecation out if it. Know what I mean?
Thanks! It’s weird seeing it all in print…I think we’ve all done a lot in the past 6 months, we just totally forget about it! And I understand not wanting to drive far to do one. My sister and I drove 2 hours to do one once and it was kind of insane since the car ride back was very messy and I didn’t let my sister touch anything 🙂
I ran my first 5k and signed up for the next one.
Awesome! It’s such a big step to sign up for that first one – and now you’ll be addicted!
I ran 1000 miles in 2013. biggest accomplishment to date.
Wow, congrats!!!! That’s an amazing number!
I haven’t seen the scale drop much over the last few months but I am down 2 pants sizes so theres a non scale victory 🙂
That’s awesome! And that’s a perfect example that the number on the scale doesn’t matter as much as the inches you lose. Great job!
The best thing that’s happened to me in the last 6 months is starting to run again after a 2 year break. I missed it so much.
Yay welcome back to running! Are you signed up for any races?
I would love to do this race! I heard it’s a ton of fun!!!!
Awesome! Good luck in the giveaway!
Congrats on your blogiversary! It’s amazing to see how much your life can change over 6 months athletically. It is on my bucket list to do a color run! 🙂
Thanks! Good luck in the giveaway!
I just completed the couch to 5k program. I’m ready to sign up for my first 5k race.
My biggest accomplishment is dropping my mile time from 12 to 11:15.
We think you are AMAZING! You are going to be the greatest Color Runner we ever did see!! Can’t wait to see you rockin’ that tutu and getting oh so colorful!!
