Hey everyone! I hope you had a very Merry Christmas yesterday! I had a lovely day at my parent’s house in Reading, PA. My parents surprised Andrew and I with 6th row Flyers tickets to a game in February (and lots of other fun gifts!), and my husband got me some awesome things off my running wish list! He also got me a John Muir book, a Duck Dynasty mug, and the best gift ever – an ornament for our first Christmas together!
I got the Buff, a Foot Rubz massager, the Runner’s World Cookbook, and he also renewed my subscription to Runner’s World Magazine! Check out my Christmas running wish list here for more info on these items!
Hanging out with my favorite Christmas present ever (I got her from Andrew 4 years ago!)
I spent the day eating yummy food, opening up fabulous presents, and hanging out with my family. And now sadly Christmas is over 😦 The craziest part is that today we got all the snow that I was wishing for on Christmas! Today’s run might be a little slippery!
The view from my parents’ porch. So pretty!
Speaking of running, here are the results from week #4 of the Runner’s World Holiday Run Streak!
Thursday, 12/19: 1 mile on the treadmill
Friday, 12/20: 1 mile on the treadmill
Saturday, 12/21: 1 mile on the treadmill
Sunday, 12/22: 1 mile on the treadmill
Monday, 12/23: 1 mile outside
Tuesday, 12/24: 2 miles outside
Wednesday, 12/25: 1 mile outside
Total miles this week: 8 miles
Total miles this streak: 57.1 miles
Based on all that things I did this week (Andrew’s birthday, Christmas/Christmas Eve, and quite a few Christmas parties) I was very busy and also really tired all week. In fact, this weekend I felt sick and nauseous all weekend and spent most of it either sleeping or getting ready for another Christmas party. So I guess this week was my “rest” week! I made a goal to run 14 miles this week, and I definitely fell short after making my long run a 1 miler this weekend. I actually can’t wait for my schedule to die down so that I can fit in my longer runs again! And I’m also looking forward to getting my eating habits back on track so that I don’t feel sick all the time! I did meet my other two goals of keeping the streak going no matter how busy I got, and running outside at least once, so I’m still happy with this week’s results.
With one short week left, I’m looking forward to getting in some definite longer runs. I have the Kris Kringle 5 Miler this Sunday, and I also plan on fitting some of my usual 3 milers in there as well. I’ve decided not to make a mile goal for my last week of the streak and just focus on keeping the streak going. This week I was really glad that I had this streak going – I probably would have skipped running almost every day this week because of how busy I was!
Now I’m off to spend more time with my family, but stay tuned tomorrow for some of the most exciting running news I’ve ever had! I’m dying to share it!
How did your run streak go this week? And how was your Christmas? Did you get anything off your running wish list?
That’s a good haul! You should definitely post some of the things from the cookbook, because I’ve had my eye on that for some time and want to know if it’s worth it or not.
It looks pretty good so far! I’m a picky eater so I probably won’t make half the stuff in there, but they do have some awesome recipes including an entire page of different healthy pancake variations!
I have heard a lot of good things about that cookbook, can’t wait to hear how you like it. I got everything on my running wish list, which was a shock and I am TOTALLY psyched about trying everything out!! I am still streaking strong too and looking forward to some more substantial running this week!
I’m glad you got some of the gifts you were hoping for!
And good job on keeping the streak going during a hectic week (esp with sickness!). I can’t believe it’s almost over!
I’m celebrating Christmas this weekend with my family – hopefully a few running related gifts are waiting for me 🙂
Those are great miles. I had started December doing the RWRunstreak, but realized quickly that I can’t run every day while doing Insanity, so I had to stop streaking. Maybe once Insanity is done, I can try a runstreak again.
Hi, so glad to find another PA gal! I’m doing the Running streak too! I’m doing great with the running portion of it, it’s remembering to report them on the website that tends to be the problem. I’ve got all my miles in but I haven’t reported them since last week! Glad to see you had a Merry Christmas!
I’m having the same problem! The only place where I remember to check in is on my blog 🙂 All that counts is that we’re getting the miles done, right? And where do you live in PA?
Awesome streaking, lady!! I see you got that random snow as well! Very unexpected down here and so pretty. It sounds like you had a great Christmas! I got that cookbook too! We should blog about what we make from it. 🙂
No way! I was so excited to open it that I started screaming! I’m a picky eater so I figured it would force me to try new things since they’re good for my running 🙂
