What I’m Eating This Week: Peppermint Edition!

So for those of you that followed my blog throughout the fall, you know that I am beyond obsessed with any food containing pumpkin.  I’m drooling just thinking about pumpkin bread and PSLs!  But during the month of December I stop eating pumpkin food and instead go full tilt into the most Christmasy food obsession of all:  peppermint!  The best part about this food obsession is that my husband is totally on board with it!  He loves peppermint ice cream and candy canes so I don’t have to convince him to get any of the yummy peppermint snacks I see at the grocery store.  Here are some of our new favorites:

Peppermint Bark Muddy Buddies:  I love making homemade Muddy Buddies, but it’s a total mess to clean up (because my favorite recipe involves peanut butter!).  Chex Mix recently started selling pre-made Muddy Buddies and they’re pretty good.  This version was a perfect Christmas treat!  I could totally see myself serving this at a Christmas party without having to do tons of dishes  🙂

Popcorn Indiana Dark Fudge Peppermint Kettlecorn:  Have you ever had any Popcorn Indiana products?  If the answer is no, GO TO THE STORE RIGHT NOW AND BUY SOME.  Seriously, sooooo good.  Every flavor they make is good, and this one is no exception.  Popcorn and peppermint are kind of a weird combo, but you get used to it pretty quickly.  And if you’re wondering why this picture looks so different, it’s because it’s from the Popcorn Indiana website…yep, we ate the bag so fast that I didn’t have a chance to take a picture!

White Chocolate Peppermint M&Ms:  Finding these at Target was one of the greatest discoveries of all time.  They’re fabulous!  I’m so glad I bought 2 bags of these, because we can’t stop eating them!  And I found an even better use for these amazing little chocolates when I was on Pinterest this weekend…

Peppermint Chocolate Cookies!  I found the recipe on Bakerella (click for the recipe!) and immediately knew I had to try it.  I omitted the instant coffee because we didn’t have it in the house, but I thought they were delicious!  Right out of the oven they were gooey and chocolatey with an amazing cool peppermint flavor.  I brought like 10 cookies to the office today and they were gone in about 30 seconds.  Win!  I think after Christmas I’ll swap out the peppermint M&Ms for peanut butter ones  🙂  Warning:  with a full stick of butter in here, these are not healthy.  But they’re reeeeally good.

  1. I love peppermint! Sent dude out the other night with the instructions to get me a peppermint sundae and he FAILED. I’m still mad.

    1. Haha why do guys always do that? I’ll sent my husband to the store with a detailed list and he always comes back with the wrong thing! Where were you getting the peppermint sundae? That sounds so good that I want to go get one right now!

      1. Well, apparently Friendly’s (which is where I’ve got them in the past – I have a mental list!) didn’t have the candy cane flavor! I don’t buy it. LIES!

    1. Oh how did I forget peppermint hot chocolate on this list?!?! Have you ever had regular hot chocolate with a shot of peppermint schnapps mixed in? You literally can’t taste anything but peppermint…which is a good thing until you have like 3 cups!

  2. Have you tried the candy cane Oreos? Delish! Oh, and we found some peppermint covered pretzels that were awesome…and I don’t remember where I bought them. 😦

I’ll have to buy the m&ms for our holiday party. I haven’t tried those yet.

    1. Um no I have not tried candy cane Oreos. Now my life is ruined because when I start on an Oreo binge I can’t stop. I will definitely be going to the store tomorrow for some of those!

  3. Ummmm… I devoured a whole bag of the peppermint muddy buddies. I love the M&Ms, but I now feel like my life is ruined, because I didn’t know to look for that popcorn!

    1. Haha maybe they still sell it! It might be a winter thing or something. I saw those muddy buddies half off at Target in the Christmas clearance section, so they might still have the popcorn somewhere!
